A $100 mouse. Introducing Microsoft SideWinder X8

Ok, sure, the new Microsoft mouse features very interesting options. But the prices that are paid for some computer peripherals are far from being affordable for many people, especially in these tough times we are all facing.

Yep, the new Sidewinder X8 has an unexpected price: $100. Anyway, this new mouse has some quite interesting benefits. It is a “hybrid” mouse we can use in wireless mode. However, it comes with a cable specifically designed for charging the battery of the mouse. Of course, you don’t need to use the cable all the time.

In this mouse, Microsoft has used the improved blue-laser technology for sensors would that allow mice to work on all type of surfaces, except on refractive surfaces such as glass or mirrors. It has a 4000dpi resolution (very impressive), configurable gaming profiles, seven programmable buttons and the possibility of adjusting the weight to suit your needs.

Shortly, this mouse will have other competitors. Logitech has announced that it will update its successful mouse G9 with resolution increased to 5000dpi (the current G9 has a 3200dpi resolution). Also, the gaming peripherals maker Razer has announced its new Mamba mouse, which is expected to be released this spring. Mamba is also a hybrid mouse with a 5600dpi resolution. In the cases of Logitech and Razer, the prices have not been announced officially but none of these mice is expected to have a low price for tough economy.
